Waramadong on health ministry’s radar as COVID-19 cases rise

Waramadong, in Region Seven, is among several areas that are currently being monitored by the Health Ministry after outbreaks of the COVID-19.

During yesterday’s COVID-19 update, Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony identified the indigenous community, which had around 44 active cases, as being among the areas being monitored by health authorities.

He revealed that authorities have been monitoring the community for some time and it continues to be an area of interest.

He added that as a result of the situation a medical team is on the ground in the village to monitor and treat patients. He added that the team is not restricted to Waramadong and has been travelling to nearby communities to screen and test persons.

“This is to ensure that we are not missing any cases in nearby villages where persons can be active as well,” he said.

Meanwhile, Anthony also disclosed that the ministry has been monitoring the situation in Region Nine because of its close proximity to the Brazil border as the Roraima state seems to be battling in second wave of infections. “Because of what is happening in Roraima…. We have established a system whereby we are constantly checking to ensure we are not missing any cases,” he said.
