Tucberg man arrested after home raid unearths quantities of ganja

A Tucberg Park, New Amsterdam man is now in police custody after police carried out a search for arms, ammunition, narcotics and stolen articles at his home on Friday evening and discovered a quantity of cannabis.

According to the Guyana Police Force, at just around 6.30 pm ranks in Berbice found 49 transparent resealable plastic bags and a brown ice-cream container with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. They narcotics were found hidden in the man’s bathroom ceiling.

The ranks also discovered a transparent container with a brown ice cream container with several resealable plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stem.

They also found a green basket with a quantity of tobacco leaves, a brown string bag with a quantity of resealable plastic bags, a black parcel wrapped with transparent plastic wrap, a black garbage bag containing a black plastic bag and transparent plastic wrap all containing quantities of leaves, seeds and stems. Two electronic scales were also found.

The man, the suspected narcotics and the other items were taken to the New Amsterdam Police Station. The items were photographed and weighed in his presence and the total amounted to 1.955kg.

 The man remained in custody up to yesterday as the investigation was continuing.
