Two persons were today charged with the murder of retired priest, George Chuck-A-Sang last December.

Rawle McPherson, 45, of Victoria, East Coast Demerara and Mohanie Mohabir, 43, of Corentyne, Berbice, were charged with the murder when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts where Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the indictable charge to them.

The charge states that between December 21 and December 23, 2020, at the St Sidwell’s Anglican Church, Vlissengen Road, Lodge, Georgetown, they murdered George Chuck-A-Sang.

The couple will make their next court appearance on February 25.

The police prosecutor informed the court that the pair would usually visit the priest. He also said that there is a third suspect.

The police had reported that several stab wounds were seen about his body and his forehead appeared swollen.
