Bulletin issued for third suspect in murder of retired priest

The police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for a third suspect in relation to the murder of retired priest, George Chuck-A-Sang, a day after a couple was remanded to prison for the crime.

In the bulletin, the police said Orlando Orin Ormando Richards, 21, whose last known address is Gibraltar Road, Corentyne, Berbice, is wanted for questioning in relation to the crime which occurred sometime between December 16 and 21, 2020 at St. Sidwell Anglican Church, Hadfield & Vlissengen Road.

On Wednesday, a couple, Rawle McPherson, 45, of Victoria, East Coast Demerara and Mohanie Mohabir, 43, of Corentyne, Berbice, were charged with the murder.

They appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.

They were not required to plead to the indictable charge and were remanded to prison until February 25th.

The police prosecutor informed the court that the couple would usually visit the priest.

The police had reported that several stab wounds were seen about Chuck-A-Sang’s body and his forehead appeared swollen.
