Record number of COVID tests sees 25 cases detected

Over 1,000 more persons were recently tested for COVID-19 within a 24-hour period resulting in 25 new cases of the virus being recorded.

The Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard showed that 1,045 more persons were tested for COVID-19 and this is so far the highest number of persons to be tested within a 24 hour period. It increased the total number of persons tested to date to 56,902.

The 25 new cases recorded have increased Guyana’s total number of positive confirmed cases to 8,338. And of the new cases, 20 were reported in Region Four, while three were recorded in Region Three, and two in Region One.

There are now 513 active cases, 45 of which are in institutional isolation while 468 are in home isolation. Some seven persons remain patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 110 more persons have recovered from the virus. The total number of recovered cases now stand at 7,629.
