A 22-year-old man who was wanted for the murder of retired priest George Chuck-A-Sang was charged and remanded to prison last week.

Orlando Richards, of Lot 192 Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on April 23 and he was remanded to the Lusignan prison by Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus after being charged with murder.

Richards was charged two months after Rawle McPherson, 45, of Victoria, East Coast Demerara and Mohanie Mohabir, 43, of Corentyne, Berbice, were charged with the murder. They appeared at the court in February and were also remanded to prison. How-ever, they appeared virtually on April 23, when the charge was withdrawn and a joint charge was read to all three of them.

The charge states that between December 21 and December 23, 2020, at the St Sidwell’s Anglican Church, Vlissengen Road, Lodge, Georgetown, they murdered Chuck-A-Sang. The trio will make their next appearance on May 28.

Chuck-A-Sang was found dead with stab wounds.
