The fatal altercation between the two men occurred on Sunday evening, when their family had a birthday celebration. Both Harper and Mohamed had been drinking.   Mohamed’s sister, Reniza Grant, had said that she and her husband left the celebration to take some friends home when her grandmother called and informed her that her brother was fighting with his father, Farook Mohamed, 50, a watchman.

According to the police, the accused and his brother both stopped Mohamed from attacking his father. “And them scramble and I’m not sure what happened but my grandmother said he start bleed,” Grant had said. Based on information from the police, Mohamed’s throat was slashed.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A post mortem examination later revealed that he died as a result of hemorrhaging and shock as a result of the incised wound sustained to his neck.
