Non-Pariel man critical after stabbed with broken bottle

A twenty-four-year-old man is listed as critical at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was stabbed about his body by an eighteen-year-old following a misunderstanding.

The victim was identified as Shafeek Abdool of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police report, the suspect and the victim ended up in a dispute when the suspect picked up a glass bottle, broke it and stabbed the victim several times about his body.

Abdool was rushed to the GPH. A medical examination revealed that the victim suffered a puncture to the left lung.

The suspect was arrested and thereafter taken to the GPH after complaining about pains. He was examined and deemed clinically okay. He is presently in custody at the Vigilance Police Station.

Investigations are in progress.
