Remainder of Guyana’s reviewed CAPE, CSEC results expected within two weeks -CXC Registrar

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Examinations Council Dr. Wayne Wesley yesterday said the remainder of reviewed results for Guyana from last year’s Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) should be released within the next two weeks.

Speaking during a virtual press conference where announcements on the administration of the exams for this year were made, Wesley, from Barbados, said that the grades which were reviewed were put on hold as Barbados was in a lockdown but noted that the CXC headquarters in St. Michael is working at partial capacity and intends to prioritise these reviews. He added that given the manner in which the review was handled and delivered, the council is satisfied that the results reflected what the stakeholders requested.

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand, during a virtual press conference held last month had said that the delay of the official release of the names of the top performing students is due to CXC being restricted from continuing its review process because Barbados is in a lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
