Anthony Khan piloted Bel Air Rubis U17 to a two-wicket win over DCC with an unbeaten 75.

A responsible half century from national under-15 batsman, Anthony Khan ensured Bel Air Rubis a two-wicket win over Demerara Cricket Club on Saturday in an under-17 friendly match.

Playing in a 30-over day/night match at DCC, the hosts won the toss and batted  but were contained to 129 for nine.

The Ogle-based Bel Air Rubis then reached 130 for eight with nine deliveries to spare.

In the chase, despite wickets tumbling at regular intervals, Khan showed his class and manoeuvered his way to 75 not out from 70 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes.

The opener was able to get support from Mohan Ragnauth (10), the pair adding 30 for the second wicket while cameos from Hemraj Harrinarine (13) and Josh Alves (13) were vital as they added 36 for the fourth and sixth wickets respectively.

Indeerjeet Nanan looked to pull off an unlikely victory, removing three batsmen in the space of one run but with just three runs to get, it was too tall a task. He eventually ended with 5-41 from his four overs.

Earlier, DCC lost Romeo Deonarine (02) in the third over but Jayden Campbell and Jonathan Van Lange added 55 for the second wicket to put their side in a solid position.

Campbell stroked five fours and one six before being bowled for a 42-ball 33 by Neeram Bani in the 17th over. Van Lange was then bowled in the following over off of Harrinarine for 26 from 52 balls, laced with four boundaries.

Bani returned to knock over Wavell Allen for a duck while trapping Jaydon Dowling for one to end with 3-15.

Nanan resisted with a 25-ball 29, decorated with three fours and one six while DCC were given a boost from Daniel Mootoo who carved three boundaries in his 17-run cameo before both batsmen were removed by Nicholas Sheopersaud who returned 3-16. Extras accounted for 20.
