A high-level team from the Joint Services on Thursday visited Region One (Barima-Waini) during which a number of issues were discussed with residents of Baramita, North West District.

The team was led by Colonel General Staff, Colonel Julius Skeete, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Clifton Hicken.

The police force, in a statement yesterday, said the team met and interacted with persons from the business sector, the village council and residents of Central Baramita.

Among the issues raised and discussed were those surrounding COVID-19 measures/guidelines, juveniles allegedly committing crimes but not being charged and tractors driving over playfields and farms.

A number of other issues involving foreign nationals were also raised including them getting preferential treatment over Guyanese, erecting buildings without approval from the village council and Guyanese not being treated “fairly” in the Venezuelan Backdam.

Approximately 135 persons attended the meeting, the police said.
