Lusignan supermarket security guard robbed at gunpoint

A security officer was robbed at gunpoint of his gun and cellphone while on duty at a Lusignan, East Coast Demerara supermarket on Tuesday night.

According to a police report, the victim, Benson Jarvis, who is attached to the A-Chang Supermarket located at Lot 562/563 Railway Embankment, Lusignan, was on duty when sometime between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday, he was approached by two unidentified men on a motorcycle.

The pillion rider, who was armed with a handgun, pointed it at Benson before relieving him of a .32 Taurus pistol bearing serial number FKAM 76570 along with twelve matching rounds, all valued at $245,000, and a Blu cellphone valued at $23,000. The bandits made good their escape.

Police investigations are ongoing.
