Heavy rains on Friday and yesterday morning forced the restart of hardball cricket in Georgetown to be shifted back by one week. The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) was all set  for the reintroduction of the sport beginning with three matches of the Noble House Seafoods two-day, second-division tournament.

At the Queen’s College ground,  Bel Air Rubis Two  was set to take on 3rd Class on pitch one while the University of Guyana was billed to  face Everest Cricket Club on pitch two. In the third match, Muslim Youth Organisation was  booked to host Malteenoes Sports Club.

Also, the Big Man Cricket over-45 T25 tournament’s first round has been postponed. At the Georgetown Cricket Club, two matches were set with West Demerara Warriors and Jai Hind clashing first followed by Upper Corentyne and Timothy Masters battling in the afternoon. Over at Enmore Community Centre, Real Warriors were poised to face West Demerara Vipers while in Essequibo at Imam Bacchus, Essequibo Eagles were expected to face GT Royal Rangers.

According to the organisers of the over-45 event, they are hopeful that rain will ease in order to have the four matches set for today go ahead as planned.

At No. 72 Cut and Load Ground, Berbice, West Bank Warriors will take on Upper Corentyne Rangers while at Jai Hind, the hosts will battle West Dem Vipers.

At GCC, there will also be a double header with GT Royal Rangers going up against Timothy Masters in the morning and Essequibo Rangers facing Real Warriors in the afternoon.
