Bodybuilding athletes will be circling days on their calendars from May after dates (tentative) for local and regional events have been announced.
According to President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Inc. (GBBFFI), Keavon Bess, the local federation is planning to kick off its activities on May 29 with the Novices Championships and Mr. Linden Classic.
The Attorney-at-Law disclosed that the GBBFFI will aim to the hold the Intermediate Championships and the Mr. Berbice Classic on July 31.
The flagship local showpiece, the National Seniors Championship is slated for September 26 at the National Cultural Centre.
Bess said based on the situation concerning the pandemic, the federation along with the COVID-19 Task Force will decide whether the local shows will be spectator free or virtual like the successful ‘Resilience’ event staged in December.
The federation head also highlighted that local standouts like Roseanna Fung (Bikini), Emmerson Campbell (Men’s Physique) and Kerwin Clarke (bodybuilding) are some of the athletes hard at work preparing their physiques to represent Guyana at international shows like the Darcy Beckles Diamond Cup in Barbados and the CAC Championships in El Salvador.
