Guard with epilepsy died of head trauma, brain swelling

A post-mortem examination conducted on the remains of Troy Wiggins, the guard who was found dead at his David Street, Kitty work site, has revealed that he died due to blunt trauma to the head, which led to swelling in the brain.

Wiggins was on Tuesday found dead under a shed at what is popularly known as the “Drum Yard” on David Street, Kitty.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement confirmed that Wiggins was found lying motionless at his work site.

The man, who suffered from epilepsy, was said to be a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for some 20 years.

According to the police, an examination of Wiggins’ body did not uncover any marks of violence. As a result, no foul play was suspected.

Marcia Fields-Wiggins, the wife of the deceased, previously told Stabroek News that her husband would often experience sudden seizures.
