Diamond taxi driver robbed by passenger, accomplice

A security guard was on Tuesday held at gun point and relieved of his car and other valuables by a man who posed as a passenger, and his accomplice, at Latchman Sand Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.

Royston Green, 36, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was at the time of the incident plying his trade as a taxi driver.

The police report stated that the robbery occurred at about 8pm on Tuesday.

According to police, Green was forcibly relieved of cash, a cellular phone and a silver/grey 2012 Toyota Premio car, bearing registration number PWW 1790.

Enquiries revealed that a passenger at a Diamond location hired Green to transport him to Soesdyke to pick up someone. After arriving at the intended location, another man approached the driver with a handgun and both the passenger and his accomplice carried out the robbery.
