Logger crushed to death by tree at Kaburi

A logger on Monday died after being pinned by a falling tree at Kaburi Backdam, Region Seven.

The dead man has been identified as Silas Allan Fredericks, 27 of Wakapau Village, Pomeroon River.

A police source told Stabroek News that Fredericks was in the company of others cutting trees in the backdam when a tree got caught in a vine.

The source noted that the tree later fell and pinned Fredericks in the process, after which he remained motionless. He was subsequently transported to the Bartica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The incident occurred at about 1 pm on Monday.
