A Springlands, Corentyne labourer is now missing and feared drowned after he left in a paddle boat on Saturday evening to retrieve some nets which were set a distance away from Orealla.

Missing is Nazim Shamshudeen also known as `Nosey’, 58.

According to information gathered, Shamshudeen works on a farm located ten miles from Orealla known as Global Tex. However, on Saturday evening, Shamshudeen left the farm in a paddle boat to pick up nets about 15 miles past Orealla.

The owner of the farm, John Desmond, 51, of Lot 131 Church Street, Number 78 Village, Corentyne, reported to the police that yesterday morning after he woke up and noticed Shamshudeen had not returned they began searching for him.

After searching, the boat Shamshudeen left in was seen drifting in Suriname waters without Shamshudeen.

Desmond then visited the Springlands Police Station and lodged a report. An investigation has since been launched. However, as of yesterday afternoon there was no search ongoing for Shamshudeen as a source said that investigators were yet to venture into the area.
