Darren Harris, 46, a cook of ‘E’ Field Cummings Park, Sophia was stabbed to death last night and his reputed wife is in custody.
The police today said that investigations revealed that the now deceased and suspect once shared a relationship which ended about a week ago due to domestic issues.
According to a female witness, she overheard an argument on the road around 9.30 pm and as such she ventured out of her home and saw the now deceased fall to the ground(roadway) about 40 feet away and at the same time she also observed the suspect walking away from the said area. The witness raised an alarm and the ambulance service with Emergency Medical Technicians subsequently pronounced Harris dead.
The body bore three stab wounds – one to the left side of the chest and two to the left side of the upper back.
The police say that the suspect was arrested at her home where it was observed that she was bleeding profusely from a wound between her right index and ring fingers.
She claimed that she and Harris were in involved in a scuffle during which he dealt her the said chop to her fingers. She further claimed that she relieved him of a knife and inflicted the injuries on him and then threw away the said knife.
She was escorted to the GPHC and is presently seeking medical attention.
The body of the deceased is presently lying at the Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.
