Miner stabbed to death in Kuribrong backdam

A twenty-three-year-old pock-knocker died on Sunday after  he was stabbed in his chest allegedly by his reputed wife following an argument between the two at Black Water Landing, Kuribrong Backdam, Potaro-Siparuni.

The deceased has been identified as Junior Singh called ‘Bumble Bee’ or ‘Fine Man’ of Kuribrong Backdam and also of Suriname.

The couple, according to the police, worked together. The 26-year-old suspect is a cook.

Enquiries revealed that around five days ago, the couple decided to leave the backdam for their home but owing to transportation difficulties they were provided a room by a businesswoman until they were able to have their transportation sorted out.

Around 12:30 pm the deceased’s wife was at the businesswoman’s shop assisting her to cook while Singh was at a shop at Black Water Landing imbibing with friends when the suspect decided to join them. The suspect was said to have spent twenty minutes with the group and then returned to the businesswoman’s shop. Singh arrived shortly after and began verbally abusing the suspect after which they went to their room.

A physical altercation ensued between the two which resulted in the suspect allegedly stabbing Singh in the left side of his chest with a knife.

The suspect was arrested and is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
