Two men robbed at gunpoint while at Pouderoyen restaurant

A 34-year-old speed boat captain, Navindra Kooblall, of La Grange Old Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and Leon Dyal, a 33-year-old sales representative who resides at Aaron Street, Goed Fortuin, WBD were last evening robbed of millions of dollars in cash and jewellery while dining at a Pouderoyen, WBD restaurant.

The police in a release today said that Kooblall was reportedly robbed of six gold chains valued at $2,145,000, two gold rings valued at  $220,000, one gold band valued at $400,000, one iPhone pro 11 max cell phone valued at $320,000, one Samsung A17 cell phone worth $150,000 and $1,500 (US currency) —–a total value of $3,320,460.

The police say that the gunmen reportedly robbed Dyal of one Samsung A50 cellular phone (valued at $60,000), $155,000 in cash (Guyana currency) and $200 in US currency — a total value of $255,000.

The robbery was committed by two unidentified males who were both armed with guns. The robbery took place yesterday between 8.15 pm and 8.30 pm, at Lot 15 Pouderoyen, WBD — which houses a Chinese restaurant by the name of HONG XIANG.

At the time, the men were dining together when the suspects walked into the restaurant and pointed guns at them while at the same time relieving them of the items mentioned and made good their escape in a white 212 motor car, registration unknown.

The scene was visited by the Police at 8.50 pm. The entire scene was captured on the CCTV cameras on the premises. No shot was fired. The area was searched but no one was seen. Several persons have been questioned so far. Investigations are continuing.
