Wicketkeeper/batsman, Joshua Da Silva says that he is happy with his performance since making his Test debut and is comfortable with batting at the number six position.

The 22-year-old Trinidadian made this declaration during an interview on the Barbados Radio show, Mason and Guest recently.

The West Indies player has played five Tests in his fledgling career and averages 37.62 with two half centuries to accompany his 13 catches with the gloves. Additionally, the right hander has featured in two One Day Internationals with 14 runs under his belt.

When asked about his development as a Test player he said: “I think I’m doing a pretty good job. Personally, I just need to sharpen up on those skills, continue working on different shots and expand on my game as much as possible, and continue with doing work with the gloves and keep working on my fitness so that’s the most I could do but I think I’m doing a pretty okay job.”

The gloveman had already expressed his desire to convert his best of 92 against Bangladesh into a maiden century and the few times he had been dismissed in the 40s to half centuries.

Da Silva was asked to share his view on what has been the topic of discussion between cricket pundits that he should be batting higher that six, having done so playing for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the past.

“I’m comfortable to about six, seven, I’ve opened the batting before, wherever the team needs me to bat when given the opportunity, I’ll do my best foot forward and always try my best for the team so it’s not a preference, not really, wherever the team needs me, I’ll go and put my best foot forward,” he said.
