Woman, 81, dies of COVID, 120 new cases confirmed

The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday confirmed the death of an 81-year-old woman from Region Four who was infected with COVID-19.

In a statement, the Ministry said the woman died while receiving care at a public medical facility. She was the 35th COVID death for the month up to yesterday, while the overall national death toll rose to 268.

Only on Friday the Ministry confirmed the death of two other 81-year-old women as well as two men, ages 64 and 46.

Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 dashboard, 120 new cases were also confirmed yesterday from from 1,574 tests, bringing the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country to date to 11,762. Seventeen of the new cases are from Region Two, 31 from Region Three, 62 from Region Four, 4 from Region Five, 3 from Region Six, 1 from Region Seven and 2 from Region Nine.

The dashboard also revealed that 13 persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 75 in institutional isolation, 1224 in home isolation and 21 persons in institutional quarantine. Some 10, 161 persons have recovered from the virus thus far.
