USA based boxer, Jermin King recently took his talents to Guadalajara, Mexico and defeated Fernando Miguel Tamayo Álvarez in their light heavyweight bout. King won via the matchup via TKO in round one.
“He is not a heavy hitter so I felt confident and started attacking. I dropped him like 40 seconds into the first round and I smelt blood and I attacked and I finished him with a double right hand and he was counted out,” King said.
The soon to be 35-year-old told this publication that he is tentatively scheduled to be back in the ring next month in North Carolina.
King, who has a record of 3-13-1 stated that he plans to fight for a national title this year or in 2022.
“It was always one of my dreams although I had a rocky start to my professional career to fight for a national title. Either later this year or early next year I want to fight for the national light heavyweight title.”
The orthodox fighter disclosed that when he returned home in January he spoke to President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, Peter Abdool about facing Winston Pompey for the title. King disclosed that the talks were fruitful and he looks forward to being crowned national light heavyweight champ.
