The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) has announced Vicky Bharosay as its new assistant treasurer.

The DCB made this announcement via  a press release yesterday.

According to the DCB, last Saturday the body held its Ordinary General Meeting at the Demerara Cricket Club’s pavilion in Queenstown, Georgetown where one of the important agenda items was the appointment of a new assistant treasurer, to fill the vacancy owing to the passing of Mr. Prettipaul Jaigobin.

“Bharosay was nominated for the position by DCB president, Mr. Bissoondyal Singh, and seconded by the vice-president, Mr. Neil Barry. There were no other nominations for the position, and as such, Mr. Bharosay was elected as the new assistant treasurer for the Demerara Cricket Board,” the release stated.

The DCB release also indicated that Bharosay is ACCA-qualified and is presently employed as a credit administration manager at the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry.

Meanwhile, in a separate release the body raised concerns over the non-attendance of West Demerara Cricket Association and East Bank Cricket Association at the meeting.

“These two Associations were also absent from the court appointed meeting in February 2021 to elect officers of the DCB for the 2021-2023 term of office,” the release stated.

“Singh, indicated that he will continue to reach out to these two (2) Associations since there are important to the developmental process, and in any case the cricketers are the ones who will suffer as result of their continuing absence. Further, Mr. Singh said that the presidents of both associations had been sent registered notices of the meetings and copies of those notices were published in the newspapers.

“In addition to the non-attendance, the West Demerara and East Bank Cricket Associations have not submitted their nominees for positions of the various sub-committees of the DCB,” the release stated.
