Orealla forestry officer hospitalised after fight

A Forestry Officer from Orealla is presently hospitalised at the Skeldon Hospital after he sustained injuries during a fight with two men known to him.

Injured is Karl Alpin, 29, a Guyana Forestry Commission officer.

The Guyana Police Force in a statement yesterday said that Alpin and the suspects are known to each other and were imbibing alcohol  when an argument suddenly ensued.

As a result of the argument, the men scuffled.

According to the police, “one of the perpetrators left and armed himself with a piece of wood and subsequently dealt the victim several lashes about his body while the second perpetrator joined in.”

The police’s statement noted that the perpetrators also suffered  injuries about their bodies with one suspect being treated at the Health Centre in Orealla.

The police said that both suspects are being held custody at the Orealla Police Station as investigations continue.
