Construction worker found with cocaine and ganja – police

A 27-year-old construction worker was taken into police custody last Wednesday night after he was allegedly found in possession of a quantity of cocaine and cannabis.

According to the police, a party of police from Region 4C were conducting patrol duties at about 8.20 pm at Third Street, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), where they observed the man acting in a suspicious manner.

He was subjected to a search during which a transparent ziploc plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis and a white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine were found.

The police said the suspect was escorted to the Beterverwagting Police Station, where the illegal drugs were weighed.

The suspected cocaine amounted to 10.63 grammes, while the cannabis sativa weighted 31.71 grammes.

The man is expected to be charged soon.
