Buxton businessman arrested over ganja

A sixty-five-year-old businessman has been arrested after police conducted a search on his home and found narcotics in his possession amounting to 2,242 grams.

The suspect of Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara was apprehended after the police were tipped off.

According to a police release, transparent ziplock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found on his person.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) deputy communications director, Stan Gouveia, police also found a container labelled “Tang” in which cannabis was found along with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to have been made from sales of the cannabis.

The suspect was taken to the Vigilance Police Station where the cannabis was weighed.

Charged are expected to be laid soon.
