A decision pertaining to the official results of the National Cycling Championships staged on Sunday is imminent since it has been sent to the President of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF), Linden Dowridge for his acknowledgment.

This is according to the Facebook page of the Guyana Cycling News.

When contacted last night Dowridge stopped short of  divulging definitively what decision was made but acknowledged receipt of the report and stated that he will sign off as soon as possible.

He also stated that the decision was made “after a careful and thorough review” during a video conference which was attended by himself, the Senior Commissaires, local Commissaires and the Secretary of GCF, Mark Sonaram.  After Dowridge’s acknowledgement, the official results of the event will be disseminated to the media.

The video conference came in the aftermath of protests by Romello Crawford and Paul DeNobrega following a three-up sprint with Briton John.

John had celebrated winning the 100-mile event, but Crawford and DeNobrega immediately protested the sprint finish citing an alleged infraction by the United We Stand standout.

John, who was disqualified for a similar infraction with Christopher Griffith earlier this month, stated that “Two cyclists are claiming that I cheated, but that is not true. I held my lane in the race; the evidence is right there.”

A source close to the situation told this publication that once Dowridge signs off on the report; John will be relegated and fined for infringement of the rules.

Once that occurs, it would mean that Romello Crawford is the new senior national road race champion. Paul DeNobrega and Christopher Griffith will join him on the podium.
