Part one of Mark `Jumbie’ Wiltshire’s Champion of Champions dominoes competition will take place this Sunday at R$ R Sports Club from 2.15pm.
According to Wiltshire, senior organizing secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) only teams placing first and second in tournaments held this year are eligible.
Teams that have won tournaments are Spartans, Phantom, Gold is Money, Angels, C6, Players, F & H, Thunder, Turning Point, B 13, Executive, Big Boss Girls and All Seasons while teams placing second are C7, T&T and Lions.
There are a number of guest teams in NA Killers, Swagger Boss, Wild Bunch, Bidders, Stabroek News, Medi-Care, West Side and Orange Walk wash bay.
Entrance fee per team is $15000 and trophies, medals and cash prizes are at stake.
The first prize is $175,000 along with trophies and nine medals while the second prize is $75000 and a trophy. The third and fourth placed prizes are $35000 and a trophy and $15000 and a trophy.
Other prizes at stake are one hamper for the best female player, while the player of the finals will receive $5000 and a trophy.
The female and male player sharing the first love in the tournament will each receive one hamper while the Most Valuable Player of the finals will receive $5000 and one hamper.
Sittings will be of six game duration with two teams in and one out.
All the prizes are guaranteed and all the GNDA tournament rules will be in effect.
The tournament is being held under strict COVID-19 guidelines and entrance fee will close at 2pm for a scheduled 2.15pm start.
