We can all breathe now

Dear Editor,

Suddenly so many bandwagoners are supporting this new declaration that the ‘lies’ historicized for the past forty plus years about Walter Rodney’s death will be corrected, including the most hypocritical of all – friends of the late hero and leading members of the Worst Possible Alternative. I am glad the Rodney family, trampled and traumatized, like the downtrodden children of Israel in the wilderness for forty years, can now breathe. I too. And Gary, Stafford, Jaipaul, Lennox and dozens of young minds, in our twenties, who were enlightened and enamoured by the brilliance and scientific objectivity of a very simple man who walked with and ate with the common man. We can all breathe now. While I thank the PPP and equally condemn the assassins and present traitors parading like kings in invisible saintly suits, openly cohabiting in the assassins’ brothel beds, I hope all those, the entire Guyana National Service people at that camp where I was doing my stint, who celebrated to the high heavens when we heard the news, bow their heads in shame. I hope the PPP does not exploit these fresh breezes to sail their own boats.

Sincerely,

Gokarran Sukhdeo
