An army of seven elite local bodybuilders is scheduled to invade the shores of El Salvador from August 11 on a quest to conquer their opposition at this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.

The athletes selected by the local fitness federation include bodybuilders, Kerwin Clarke, Darius Ramsammy, Roger Callender, Nicholas Albert, Men’s Physique champions, Emmerson Campbell and Yannick Grimes along with Ms. Bikini ruler, Rosanna  Fung.

The formidable unit is stacked with Clarke, a five-time Mr. Guyana, winning two gold medals and three bronze medals at CAC in years’ past. Campbell is a four-time Mr. Guyana (Men’s Physique), Three-Time Stage of Champions winner , a silver medalist at Darcy Beckles and a silver and bronze medalist at CAC.

Ramsammy had his coming out party at last year’s ‘Resilience’ earning the overall spoils, while the statuesque Fung is the two-time Ms. Bikini champion of Guyana. Along with Fung, Albert and Callender will be making their debuts at CAC but they have both won at the Novices Championships while Grimes is a 2019 CAC bronze medalist at the competition held in the Dominican Republic.

A release stated the local federation looks forward to having president, Keavon Bess lead its delegation along with at least one coach to ensure that the fitness ambassadors are well taken care of.

Bess said he firmly believes this team represents the “elite stock” of athletes in Guyana and they are confident they will produce medals, given a decorated history locally and internationally for some.

The GBBFF has reached out to several corporate entities in Guyana for sponsorship and has also submitted a formal request to the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport for  support in ensuring team Guyana gets to El Salvador to represent the Golden Arrowhead.
