The Regional Executive Office (REO) of Region Nine, Karl Singh has been taken into custody by the police following the shooting of a woman in Lethem last night.
The police in a statement today did not name Singh.
According to the police, Gladys Emmanuel, 25, was in the company of the suspect in his motor pickup when she was allegedly shot in the abdomen.
She was taken to the Lethem Regional Hospital by the suspect where immediate surgery was performed and her condition is now regarded as stable.
The Police say they have been unable to interview the victim due to her condition.
The police say that the suspect was arrested and escorted to Lethem Police Station and his licensed firearm seized and lodged.
