The Charge d’ Affaires of the People’s Republic of China’s Embassy,  Chen Xilai, yesterday donated US$50,000 to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) to aid Guyana’s flood relief efforts.

A release from the CDC said that Xilai said that China was proud to help fellow nations during crises since it understands the struggles that a country faces during a flood for instance, being no stranger to natural disasters itself. Parts of China have been affected by severe flooding.

Receiving the donation was CDC’s Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig, who said that the Embassy’s contribution will aid the response and recovery efforts greatly.
