The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has received a donation of US$18,000 in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to support its response to COVID-19.
The donation, which was made by Northwell Health through the Center for Global Health, includes 12,000 KN-95 masks, 10,200 surgical masks, 3,200 isolation gowns and 1,800 face shields.
In a press release, the GPHC noted that the donation came as part of Northwell Health’s commitment to support the hospital’s preparedness and response to the pandemic.
It further stated that the PPE for healthcare workers is essential in COVID-19 management, more specifically for those who work in the high risk importance. The Director of the Center for Global Health, Dr. Eric Cioe-Pena, in a correspondence to the Chairman of GPHC, stated, “We hope the supplies provided will help you in fighting the current surge of COVID-19 cases in Guyana.”
The release stated that the corporation prioritises the health of its staff and as a result cannot emphasise enough the importance of the donation.
