Guyana in fourth place as Chess Olympiad opens

Guyana’s chess team is in fourth place after the first day of the 2021 FIDE Online Chess Olympiad currently underway.

On yesterday’s opening day, Guyana defeated Togo 4-2, the Cayman Islands 5 and one half to half and Antigua and Barbuda 5-1.

They are tied on 14 and one half points with Puerto Rico , Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti after all three of those teams also won their three matches.

As a result, Guyana is in fourth place after the tie-break .

A total of 153 teams have signed up for the event.
