Memorex workers accused of lifting $7.5M in goods

Three Memorex Enterprise Inc. workers were on Friday charged with stealing over $7.5 million in food supplies and other goods from the company.

The trio, Milton Barnwell, 52, of Lot 29 New Amsterdam, Prakash Hemchand, 28, of Lot 65 Queenstown, Skeldon, and Mark Balprashad, 29, of Lot 71 Second Street, Corentyne, Berbice, all appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly on a joint charge.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge that between April 1, 2021 and August 20, 2021, at Durban Street, Lodge, they broke and entered the Memorex Enterprise Inc. bond and stole a quantity of items amounting to $7,541,700, which was the property of Anthony Ameerally.  They were each granted bail in the amount of $250,000 and the matter was adjourned until September 24, 2021.
