Bosai plant operator dies after engulfed in fire 

Thirty-nine-year-old plant operator, Kersa Robertson died yesterday morning after he was engulfed in a fire shortly after arriving at the Bosai Mineral Group compound, Republic Avenue, MacKenzie, Linden.

The incident occurred at about 6 am just after Robertson had visited the foreman’s office and headed into the compound.

A statement issued by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that moments after arriving, Robertson was heard screaming and seen running in the compound, engulfed in flames. The fire was immediately put out by his colleague after which he collapsed.

He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was admitted suffering from third and fourth degree burns to 95 percent of his body. He died at about 8.45 am while receiving treatment. 

The area was searched by the Police who found Robertson’s haversack and what appeared to be a burnt plastic bottle and box of Swinger matches in a small concrete structure in the company’s compound.

The body of the deceased was escorted to the Pensioners Funeral Parlour where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

An investigation is ongoing.

The Management and Staff of Bosai Minerals Group (Guyana) Inc in a Facebook post extended condolences to the family and friends of Robertson.

“We are thinking of you, wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of pain”, the post said.
