Pastry vendor died from haemorrhage due to gunshot injuries

The autopsy recently conducted on the remains of 39-year-old Shawn Albert aka ‘Dexter/Rastaman’- a popular pastry vendor attached to Lin’s Bakery – revealed that he died as a result of haemorrhage from the gunshot injuries he suffered to his chest.

The autopsy was conducted yesterday afternoon by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Suddie Mortuary, Region Two. 

Meanwhile, police in Region Two are currently exploring all possible leads in an effort to find the perpetrator/s of the shooting. No one is currently in custody.  According to information reaching Stabroek News, their efforts so far have proved futile, however new information has surfaced and police are currently combing the backlands of Onderneeming Sandpit in search of the two suspects.

Albert was shot in his head on August 30, around 18:43 hours at Onderneeming Sandpit, Region Two. The father of one hailed from Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. He was a driver/ salesman attached to Lin’s Bakery located in South Road, Georgetown.  On the day in question he was selling pastries along with salesman Decklon Lee in the village when they were attacked by two masked men. As soon as they entered their mini bus GWW 1783, the masked men who were armed with a gun, stopped them and demanded cash. It is reported that Albert put up a fight with the armed bandits.

 The bandits then opened fire as the now-deceased was attempting drive away, causing him to lose control and crash into a nearby fence. The men made good their escape with $70,000. Residents upon hearing the noise immediately rushed to the scene where they found Albert lying helpless. 

The police were immediately summoned. Albert was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Lee the other salesman was not injured during the robbery. Police recovered three spent shells at the scene while the bus is currently impounded at the Suddie Police Station.
