West Berbice crash leaves businessman dead

A businessman is now dead after he reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole and then a fence along the West Coast Berbice Public Road yesterday.

Dead is Remy Ramsammy, 30, of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice, who was the owner of Fix It Tyre Shop, located in Armadale, West Coast Berbice.

His female passenger was up to last night reported to have been receiving medical attention at the Fort Wellington Public Hospital.

According to information gathered, Ramsammy was heading towards Georgetown late yesterday afternoon when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the opposite lane. The man then reportedly slammed into a nearby utility pole and a fence before the vehicle came to an abrupt halt.

Ramsammy was rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His relatives told Stabroek News that they were in a state of shock after learning of the accident.
