Pomeroon labourer dies after crashing into tree at Dredge Creek

A 22-year-old Pomeroon labourer was killed after he crashed into a tree in the vicinity of Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon, in Region Two.

Dead is Royle Sandy of Dredge Creek Upper Pomeroon. 

Enquiries revealed that the incident occurred at 12:30 Sunday whilst the youth was making his way home. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his small wooden boat and crashed into a tree. He fell overboard after the collision.

A farmer who was also making his way along the waterway at the same time stopped to render assistance.

The visibly injured Doyle was taken to the Oscar Joseph Hospital in Charity he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is currently at the Suddie mortuary.

According to Allan Sandy, the deceased father, his son left early in the morning to visit a friend. The senior Sandy who is a pastor, said that he was on his way to church when he received the news that his son was in an accident.

“My son is no longer here, it’s sad, God knows the best, he was a good child to us” the father said.

Police have launched an investigation.
