Deputy Superintendent of Police remanded on drug trafficking charge

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dexter Brown was yesterday charged  with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

He appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore. The charge was read to him and he pleaded not guilty.

Brown was remanded to prison until November 2nd, 2021 for disclosure at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.

Brown was arrested by his colleagues last Friday following a roadblock at Helena Number Two Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

The vehicle which had eluded a police patrol in regional police division 5 was discovered with drugs and ammunition.

Brown had tried escaping through the roadblock but was pursued by police and arrested.

He was found in possession of 9.4 kilogrammes of cannabis and 2 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
