Three months after ten finalists were announced winners at the finale of the inaugural Guyana Talent Search on July 19, they were awarded their cash prizes by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

After months of rehearsals, performances and waiting, winners Curtela Lewis, Joel Dudhnath, Quanisha Patterson, Kaysheena Singh, Logan Simpson, Nia Allen, Roberto Teekah, Darius Austin, Cassie Adams, and Sonia Singh were elated to have finally been granted their prizes.

One of the two youngest, dancer Kaysheena Singh commented on the ministry’s Facebook post of them receiving their prizes that the experience was one of the most amazing and thanked the ministry for the opportunity to share her talent.

Meanwhile, viewers of the show who also commented commended the winners on their commitment throughout the competition and also give kudos to the ministry for pulling off the event.

The participants earlier this year signed up to enter the competition and learnt some months later that they had been selected to compete in the talent competition.

From the inception, the ten finalists were pointed out as stars of the show, though their talents still needed to be honed. Episode after episode, viewers could see their growth.

At the finale, the contestants battled it out one last time. However, there came a twist at the end when the contestants learnt that they were all winners.

To enter the competition, they were required to send a one-minute video showcasing their talent via WhatsApp. The competition was first hosted live on May 2 at the National Cultural Centre with DJ Akelo Elliot, singers Poonam Singh and Timeka Marshall, and television sensation Joel Ghansham as judges.
