Men accused of wounding each other get bail

Two men were on Wednesday charged with wounding each other and they were each released on $20,000 bail.

Wenrick Wilson, a shop owner, and Kareem Christopher, a vendor, both appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where they were separately read charges by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Wilson pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleges that on October 13, at Hunter Street, La Penitence, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Christopher with intent to maim or disfigure or to cause actual bodily harm. It is alleged that on the same date and at the same location, Christopher unlawfully and maliciously wounded Wilson. Christopher also denied the charge.

The Police Prosecutor told the court that Christopher went to Wilson’s premises and that the two men, who know each other but are not on speaking terms, had an altercation. She did not object to bail being granted. However, she noted to the court that Christopher sustained lacerations that are 6 cm in width to regions of his head and lacerations measuring 4 cm to his wrists. Wilson suffered  lacerations to his neck and arms.

The men were released on $20,000 bail each and the matter was adjourned until December 8. The men were told that they cannot go within an 8 ft distance of each other in the interim.
