Aviator Malcolm Chan-A-Sue and his wife Margaret Chan-a-Sue have both been admitted as patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) following a multi-vehicle accident yesterday at High and Barrack streets, Kingston.

The Guyana Police Force yesterday said Malcolm, 82, and Margaret, 84, were in a car that was struck by a minibus at the intersection and their vehicle then collided with another car.

In the aftermath, the Chan-a-Sues were admitted to the GPH.

The accident occurred around 12 pm.

At the time, the Chan-a-Sues, of Lot 56 Coralita Avenue, Bel Air Park, George-town, were occupants of a car, #PLL 4477, and proceeding in an eastern direction along the northern driving lane of Barrack Street.

The police said as the car approached the intersection with High Streets, where a “STOP” sign and a stop line have been placed to regulate the movement of traffic, Malcolm, the driver, allegedly failed to stop and continued driving east to cross the intersection. As a result, the minibus, which was proceeding north along the western driving lane of High Street, collided with the car.

The Chan-a-Sues’ car then collided with #PWW 5212, which was parked on the eastern side parapet of High Street facing north. Its owner Wayne Ramcharran, 65, of Lot 4248 Westminster, West Bank Demerara, was in the vehicle along with a passenger.

As a result of the collisions, the couple, Ramcharran, along with the occupant of his car, the bus driver, Raymond Douglas, 28, of Lot 36 New Settlers Street, Mocha Village, East Bank Demerara, and passengers of the minibus received injuries and were taken to the GPH. The passengers of the bus were identified as Deon Thomas, 32, of Lot 197 North Haslington, East Coast Demerara, and Shellon Marks, 26, of Lot 56 Melanie Damishana, also on the East Coast.

The police said investigations are currently ongoing.

Malcolm Chan-a-Sue is founder of the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School.
