The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement, had said investigations revealed that Trevor and two of his brothers were drinking at a shop when he got into a heated argument with one of the suspects.

The argument escalated into a scuffle and Persaud reportedly punched Trevor to his face. Shortly after, the police added, the three other suspects armed themselves with a cutlass and knives and attacked Trevor.

At this point, Harvey tried to rescue his brother and was also chopped.

He jumped into a nearby canal, from where he tried to raise an alarm but the suspects, who were continuing their assault on his brother, pelted him with bricks.

Residents of the area summoned the police. However, by time they arrived the suspects had already escaped on foot.

Trevor was escorted to Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The three other suspects are yet to be apprehended.
