Region Four man is latest COVID fatality

The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed the death of a Region Four man who tested positive for COVID-19.

The Health Ministry in a statement reported that the 77-year-old man, who was partially vaccinated, died on Friday.

His death brings the total number of persons who have succumbed with the virus in Guyana to 972.

In addition, a total of 89 new cases were confirmed by the Ministry after 1,590 tests were done. The new cases increased the country’s total number of cases to 37,273.

The updated COVID-19 dashboard showed new cases were recorded in Region One (4 cases), Region Two (6), Region Three (5), Region Four (34), Region Five (2), Region Six (29), Region Seven (2), Region Eight (1), Region Nine (3) and Region Ten (3).

The dashboard also showed 11 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1,844 persons in home isolation, 65 persons in institutional isolation and 2 persons in institutional quarantine.
