Georgetown (GT) and East Coast Demerara (ECD) battled to an exciting 2-2 draw yesterday in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) U13 Challenge Series at the National Training Centre, Providence.

Georgetown coach Vurlon Mills during a post-match comment said that despite struggling to maintain a two goal advantage, the team played well in a very competitive encounter.

He explained. “The team played well. We went up two goals. But then we started to loose shape and organization. Some changes made during the game affected our organization but I am satisfied with the result and I must congratulate the boys for a hard fought game.”

A 2-0 lead in favour of the Georgetown unit was quickly extinguished as the East Coast Demerara outfit levelled proceedings to earn a share of the spoils compliments of second half conversions in the dying embers of the contest.

The contest started brightly for the Georgetown unit when Shaquille Dalrymple opened the scoring with a 20th minute conversion. Awarded a penalty for an infraction inside the box, Dalrymple made no mistake as he fired his effort past the goalkeeper.

It proved to be the only conversion of the first half. Georgetown then doubled their lead in the 45th minute when Jamal Fraser found the back of the net.

It was a moment of brilliance from the dynamic attacker who curled his powerful effort from the top of the box into the back of the net.

However, East Coast rebounded through Shaquan Daniels in the 55th minute to reduce the deficit. The conversion occurred from the penalty mark with Daniels blasting his effort past the custodian with clinical efficiency.

Daniels would make his presence felt once more five minutes later to level the matchup and earn a share of the spoils. Another penalty was awarded for a clumsy challenge inside the area, as Daniels calmly converted into the back of the net.
