We have found other beliefs which work for us

Dear Editor,

For me, what stands out in the article “Re-imaging Cheddi Jagan: Cultural Moorings and Political Recklessness” by Baytoram Ramharack (SN, 28th November 2021) is the assessment that Cheddi Jagan was culturally lost because he did not embrace Hinduism. It is offensive to me, and I assume to many other Guyanese who do not embrace the majority traditions of Mother India, which is Hinduism. This does not mean that we are culturally lost. It means we have found other beliefs which works for us.

Sincerely,

Sean Ori
