GBBFFI permitted to have live audience at upcoming c/ships

After two years, bodybuilding starved fans will be served several courses when they return to the ornate splendor of the National Cultural Centre on December 19.

According to President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Inc. (GBBFFI), Keavon Bess, the body has been granted permission to have a live audience at this year’s National Senior Championships.

According to Bess, the federation was officially informed on Thursday evening, via email, that permission was granted by the Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony for a live audience to attend the flagship event.

However, the permission comes with a caveat. This permission was granted on the condition that the federation must follow all the guidelines as set out in the Gazetted Order on COVID-19. Further, the venue can only accommodate 200 fully vaccinated persons in the audience.

Bess said tickets will go on sale soon.

Meanwhile, on stage athletes will be required to stand six feet apart from each

other. While backstage, athletes will be required to wear masks and maintain the mandatory physical distancing. Judges will be seated six feet from each other and will be required to wear their masks.

This Competition is the first Seniors Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships since 2019 and has so far attracted the financial support of the Sports Commission, Fitness Express and several other business entities and individuals.

Athletes

On the night of the competition, there will be about 30 athletes competing in the three different segments. These are:

1. Bodybuilding;

2. Bikini

3. Men’s Physique

An official list of athletes will be presented on December 16.
